For the best Herbal & Homeopathic Remedies - with none of harmful side effects associated with pharmaceuticals

What are the causes of Candida?

The popular perception is that Candida is the consequence of antibiotics usage. The medical profession dismisses this as fantasy, saying that antibiotics could not have that effect in a healthy individual. But it may be that antibiotics act as the ‘final straw’ where health has already been compromised, most probably by one or more of the following:

  • use of the contraceptive pill or HRT

  • use of natural progesterone cream

  • use of other steroids (hydrocortisone, beconase, prednisolone etc.)

  • use of immuno-suppressive drugs

  • repeated use of broad-spectrum antibiotics e.g. for acne

  • dental mercury amalgam poisoning

  • other heavy metal poisoning e.g. lead, cadmium

  • chemical poisoning from the home, garden, workplace etc.

  • hormonal changes e.g. puberty, pregnancy, menopause

  • stress - usually as a contributory factor

Of course using natural, homeopathic or herbal remedies wherever possible rather than resorting to antibiotics and pharmaceuticals for all minor or normal ailments, will help reduce the risks.

Treatment

It is important to keep the area dry and clean. Specific treatment is given by antifungal agents. Alternative management is by taking probiotics, such as lactobacillus acidophillus or bifido bacteria which are considered ‘friendly bacteria’. They can be found in ‘live’ yoghurt and products like cottage cheese, or in a supplement form.

  • Adopting a low-sugar diet can also help to prevent an overgrowth of Candida in the gut.
  • Avoid foods that 'ferment' mainly 'Blue cheeses' 'mushrooms' and last but not least alcohol - at least while the symptoms are bad and keep of alcohol for several weeks - unfortunately wine is the worst culprit!

Still its worth staying off these things for a few weeks to be Candida free
