Country Living from the BarnDriving along the road the other day I came across a patch of glowing daffodils, it made me smile Spring is just around the corner…and as of today January has gone - yes you did it - not one to wish away my days – but how many of us really enjoy January, Christmas has gone and it can be a bit dark and gloomy – but not now. As I write this, the sun is shining, the birds are twittering, February has arrived and the primroses are coming through - or at least the ones that our resident wild rabbit hasn’t had for breakfast! “Look mummy he is boinging like a bunny”.. shouted my 3 year old! Even they - my children have noticed the difference, it is still light when we come from school and yippee they put on their wellies and off to the horses they go. Spring to me is a time for out with the old and in with the new. Have you ever seen something for your home and thought – that’s nice but what do I do with it, where do I put it, I have and often I buy it anyway just because I like it and then one day I find a use for it or I find a new way of using it. GC – (some would say long suffering husband) will testify to this! LIGHTING The other day, having moved the furniture around as you do, there was that corner that really needed a light, but I didn’t have one that fitted, but what I did have was a string of white fairy lights so in a vase they went, it was sat on top of the bookcase, plugged in, switched on and lo! I had a light – not only is it practical it looks great! Armed with my new creativity I walked through the hall and there sitting crying out for lights was the pot of twigs and so, now bedecked with a further set of the white fairy lights they look fantastic and add a touch of fun. |
